Li Mingding, PhD, professor. His main work experiences and positions include assistant professor of University of Minnesota; assistant professor, associate professor and tenured professor of University of Tennessee; associate professor and tenured professor of SAN Antonio Health Science Center and director of Department of Pharmacogenomics and Bioinformatics at University of Texas; Jean and Ronald Butcher Distinguished and Tenured Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobiology, University of Virginia; director of Research in Neurobiology; editor of "Frontiers in Molecular Psychiatry", section editor of "Amino Acids", associate editor of "Genetics and Epigenetics", etc.
As a chief scientist or a participant in a major project, Prof. Mingding Li has received nearly us $18 million in research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other funding units. His lab was the first in the world to use microchips and proteomics to study the effects of nicotine on the genomes of humans and model animals, and the first to successfully target the genes responsible for nicotine addiction in African Americans using gene-linkage methods. Prof. Mingding Li has published more than 130 academic papers on Nature Genetics, Science, Nature Genetics Reviews, Journal of American Medical Association, American Journal of Human Genetics, Molecular Psychiatry, Human Molecular Genetics, Journal of Neuroscience, Biological Psychiatry, Neuropsychopharmacology and other international important journals as the first author or the author of general theory. At the same time, Prof. Mingding Li is also an reviewer of more than 40 internationally renowned academic journals such as The Lancet, American Journal of Human Genetics, Molecular Psychiatry, Human Molecular Genetics, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). And he has been held by more than 20 countries in various international conferences invited to do the theme or guest report more than 100 times. Prof. Mingding Li is currently The director of The American Society for The Advancement of Science, Society for Neuroscience, American Society of Human Genetics, American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and Society for Research on neuroscience and Tobacco. He has served as the chief or final expert of 20 research foundation projects, including National Institutes of Health (NIH), US Department of Agriculture, US Department of Veterans Affairs, and British Medical Research Council.
Prof. Ming Li has long been engaged in researches in the fields of human genetics, neurobiology, and pharmacogenetics based on bioinformatics and genomics. He has published more than 200 related papers with a total impact factor of nearly 1,000 and an average impact factor of 5.66 per paper as the first author or corresponding author. He has cited more than 7000 times, the highest single citation nearly 500 times. He has written four English monographs. Some of his SCI papers include one paper in Nature Genetics, one paper in Nature Reviews Genetics, one paper in JAMA, one paper in Science, eight papers in Molecular Psychiatry, four papers in American Journal of Human Genetics, and three papers in Biological Psychiatry.
